It begins…
Here's where we learn what we're doing. This Project is intended to create a complete encyclopedia of trick arrows from comic book lore.
Trick arrows are the best part of the super-heroic archer. They range from the clever to the absurd to the sublime. Lists already exist, but they have very little information about most of the arrows. We're going to change that.
Though they will be mentioned, of course, this wiki is not going to be about the myriad archers out there, only about the weaponry. Please bear with me as I learn the mechanics of WikiDot and get started.
Glossary
Every good archer carries a stock of standard, non-trick arrows for the usual purposes. Along with these they usually carry an assortment of trick arrows. Arsenal trick arrows are divided into four general categories.- Lethal: These arrows could simply be enhanced standard arrows (e.g. diamond or adamantium tipped) or they could be used to inflict incredible damage well beyond what a standard broad head arrow could do (e.g. acid arrow, exploding arrow, atomic warhead arrow). They are most commonly used in a non-lethal manner, but the damage potential is high.
- Non-Lethal: Used to subdue, distract, or impair the target without causing lasting damage (e.g. net arrow, glue arrow, knockout gas arrow).
- Utility: Used for a variety of non-combat purposes (e.g. rope arrow, flare arrow, safecracker arrow).
- Bizarre: The truly weird and wonderful arrows that just don't fit anywhere else (e.g. antler arrow, baby rattle arrow, doughnut arrow).
